Botanical Gardens

We went on a trolley ride over the weekend that showed us some great places in the downtown area... one that particular sparked my interested was the Botanical Garden over yonder. What a perfect place to let the kids run around - AKA: get tired - and it's doesn't require me to push a swing! I did my research and discovered, much to my delight, that the Gardens are free on Tuesdays! Sweet! I didn't want to go alone on my first expedition to downtown so we waited for Trev. He was off in the afternoon.
We arrived at the Botanical Garden - or so we thought. It was a replica of the Versailles Gardens in France. Miniature. Always FREE. Centennial Gardens is not the Botanical Gardens. And it was 100 degrees outside! hahaha. Wow, the trolley man was wrong. But we couldn't just go home. The drive took longer. What's left to do but explore? So we headed in the direction of downtown in hopes of something greater.
Suddenly there was one of those famous, itsy bitsy, green signs we had in FL that showed you the direction of a great park if you were paying attention. The sign read "Botanical Gardens". A U-turn was in order. As we meandered thru the Morgan Historical District, in the clearing of the trees we spot the True Botanical Gardens of downtown. The sight was magnificant.
We get to the ticket counter and i recount to the lady my discovery of Free Tuesdays. She says, "Of course! Come right in. Here's a free pot for the kids, too."
Yeah right. Her ACTUAL response? "Yeeeeaaah, unfortunately it's not free. We've been trying to correct the internet advertising. But it will be free July 21."
So, we did what any self-respecting, post graduate would do. .... We walked the outside perimeter of the park. hahhaa. The only "garden" we actually encountered was a Community Garden Plot around the corner. But we sure saw a lot of great 'historical' houses.
