2. Rained all weekend here. All day long most days. First day it was ok to stay inside. Second day? We were getting a little stir crazy. Luckily we were at Gramma Amy's house (family in town) so we had access to some bikes. Amy and i packed the kids up in the bike trailer, we downed ponchos and then headed out for a rainy ride. Lexi came with us
3. During a neighborhood block party in Arvada all the cousins were playing down in the basement. Suddenly Carter comes upstairs with something in his hands... uhoh... i recognize this THING immediately. Split seconds later Trev sees it too and we rush Carter into the bathroom to assess the damage. Cleaning off the device, it's plain to see it's pretty disgusting. I should have changed it a few months ago but i got kinda of lazy (truth be told we were kinda hoping it would come out soon).
Figured out what it is yet? OH yea, the MIK-KEY button. Ugh. All of our replacement tools are in Parker (long long ways away). Stuck- now what?. Trev trys to put it back in after jimmy rigging a syringe that will inflate the balloon.. carter screams. It's not suppose to hurt. At least not like that. Uh oh. now what? I try calling an oncall doctor at the hospital but b/c we don't have a real GI doctor here yet no one could give me instructions over the phone. So we headed out to the ER. I hate ER's.
Yada yada yada... we talk to the doctor tell him we don't want to put it back in. Does he need surgery for closure (i couldn't remember the details. They told us way in the beginning but it's been tooo too long)? No surgery necessary. They kept him in the ER for about 15 minutes to make sure he was eating ok (he downed a whole meal kit in like 10 minutes). Carter being a champ convinced them he was great. soooooo
NO MORE G-TUBE!
4. Oh yeah! i almost forgot to mention. As most of you know i have brackets on my lower teeth to hold in a retainer. If you're an Elsberry it seems to be the family logo. Trev hates it - every time i smile he dies a little bit inside. While we were in school he said that i could go in and get it taken out. Well, here we are graduated and nothing has been done about it.
Finally i went into the office, got a cleaning and yup, you guessed - got the retainer removed! I feel like a new person. It's great. And just for the record, my mouth is still 100% cavity free. Just had to toot my own horn there for a minute. If you're interested here are some before and after pics:
